It had been raining on and off the whole morning and just 10 mins before the race, the rain started again. The weather was worrying for the teams as the drizzles made the roads slippery. Most drivers were on intermediate tyres.

The race started with Hamilton moving up from P3 to P2 while McLaren’s Kovalainen had an unlucky day when he couldn’t start the car for the warm-up lap. A couple of incidents occured due to the slippery tracks. Button, Rosberg and Glock all had to pit early for new noses. Hamilton also lost control of his car and hit a barrier causing a puctured right rear tyre.
The safety car was brought out when Red Bull’s Coulthard crashed and coincidentally, Torro Rosso’s Bourdais also crashed at the same point, banging into Coulthard’s rear. Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen had to take a drive through penalty as his tyres were not fitted within the 3 min period before the race started. Another unlucky incident especially since he had just got P2 back from Hamilton.
Felipe Massa also lost control of his car, managed to get back into the race, but loses P1 to BMW’s Kubica. On an interesting note, Sutil from Force India made his way up to P5, into championship points position! There were many slips and bumping from all the drivers throughout the race.

As the race track dried up with 20 laps to go, Lewis Hamilton led the race after a good pit stop. On Lap 62, Nico Rosberg had a major crash which resulted in another safety car session. Debris were all over the track as drivers navigated around the damaged car. Once the safety car was out, it was back to racing again but it wasn’t going to be a full race. The maximum allowed time for each race is 2 hours and due to the rain and multiple safety car sessions, the race was due to finish after 75 laps.
Raikkonen was in P5 and Sutil in P4. In the Raikkonen’s urgent bid to overtake Sutil, he lost control and crashed into Sutil’s rear. He managed to get himself back in P9 but Sutil had to stop. Imagine his and the team’s disappointment. From P4 to nothing!
The exciting race ended with Hamilton first, Kubica second and Massa third. Hamilton’s great effort moves him up the Driver’s Championship to first position.

Wow…nice lay out… and Force India almost won…damn!
Yeah… I wish they got some points.
